Its location to the motorway network and to our destination.

Poor service in the restaurant lack of choice on the menu and none availability of dishes shown as available on the menu. The fabric of the building is also very shabby and in desperate need of renovation.

comfortable clean rooms equipped to a very good standard. We enjoyed a delicious evening meal.

the building where the suites are located is seperate and you have to go outside - could be a little cold in winter!

On this occasion it was purely for its location.

I have stayed at the hotel previously on business and pleasure, and originally when it was privately owned. If I'm honest the hotel in certain areas is looking tired, the dining/breakfast room with water damage to the roof, worn soft furnishings and the windows were filthy. Despite asking for the heating to be turned on, we only had residual heat for a few hours in the evening, the second morning of our stay we had no heating again, with no extra blankets in the bedroon cupboard available. It is such a beautiful location and deserves to be a brought back to its original classy status. Our first morning we were faced with a very loud chap working on his laptop in the breakfast room having a conversation with a client, the staff just left him! despite the obvious discomfort, we moved into the Orangery for peace and quiet, Debora our waitress was very friendly & obliging in making us more comfortable and was again the following morning. This is a small thing but worth mentioning, we asked for brown toast as we do not eat white bread, the young waitress brought white, we said we asked for brown and she replied "but you asked for white"!

good location. breakfast was good and plenty of it, nothing too much trouble for the staff The spa area was lovely and not crowded. The grounds were well maintained. Our room was clean with tea and coffee, toiletries in bathroom.

we were given a rubbish room, it was very dissapointing, tired and worn out, we were looking forward to some luxury in our room but could have been in a 2 star b&b. We passed one of the nice rooms as we were leaving, the ones shown on the website that we thought we would be staying in, which made it even worse. My son said his room was worse than ours it was bare and the window wouldnt shut. Some areas of the hotel itself are very much in need of a lick of paint and new soft furnishings.

the room was comfy and tastefully decorated with historical quirkiness and the staff were friendly and kind, the spa was clean and soothing with lovely friendly staff.

the jacuzzi does not have a handrail which made getting in and out difficult for me (I have a dodgy knee) and so I didn't feel I could use it a second time

Great location, good food in restaurant, comfortable room and friendly staff .

  • Group of friends

The food was lovely, spa treatments were professional! Had potential for great stay but needs a lot of money investing!

The whole place was tired, and had a damp smell and atmosphere. Facilities required refurbishing and investment, Dreadfully under staffed but the staff that were there were helpful but run ragged!

Hotel was shabby in need of redecoration.breakfast was poor they did not have what they said they had on the menu and we were not late going to breakfast

    The room

Wish could of had late check out

The food at the evening meal was fantastic. The spa area was clean and in full working order.

Our room had no tv. After making a request to reception, we were moved to a new room which hadn't been cleaned from the previous evening, and ended up moving back to our original room having a tv brought to us. We would rather had just eaten bar meals rather than the off the restaurant menu, however, it was still brilliant food. We had a lovely evening overall, but I would not pay full price to stay at this venue.
